Braces for Children & Adult Braces Basingstoke

While many think of orthodontic treatment as something that only occurs during the teenage years, this is not the case. Children and adult orthodontic treatment in Basingstoke is available to correct misaligned teeth and bite issues.

We provide a range of fixed orthodontic treatment options for children and adults at Hampshire Dental Care. Treatment is developed based on each individual’s needs.

Braces for Children in Basingstoke

At Hampshire Dental Care, we provide child orthodontic treatment if we identify issues with your child’s bite and/or misaligned teeth.

We are able to identify these issues by examining your child’s permanent teeth in development. Based on the findings, we are able to determine if treatment is necessary and if fixed orthodontics is the best option.

Those with fixed braces need to practice good oral hygiene. Food and plaque become trapped in and around the brackets and wires.

It is important for the child to practice proper oral hygiene and pay particular attention while brushing to prevent decay.

Adult Braces in Basingstoke

A variety of factors can lead to misaligned teeth and a poor bite. This can occur during the childhood years, and/or can occur and worsen during the adult years.

Crowded and misaligned teeth can be corrected using fixed orthodontics and can also help adjust and restore your bite.

For adult patients who have concerns with the appearance of metal braces, there are other systems available, such as those which use tooth-colored or clear brackets.

Metal or Ceramic Braces?

Different treatment options are available to both children and adults, based on their orthodontic needs.

The use of traditional metal braces is well established, and they are able to be used to correct a wide variety of orthodontic problems. To to a large extent, ceramic braces can also achieve the same outcomes as metal braces.

Your orthodontic provider is best placed to advise you of the treatment options available.

What Happens During Treatment?

If treatment is considered necessary, an initial consultation with an orthodontic provider will be arranged. During this appointment your provider will assess your current malocclusion (bad bite) and establish your orthodontic needs. Your provider will determine if additional x-rays, scans or photos are required.

After your braces are affixed to your teeth, we will develop a personalized treatment plan to adjust your braces at each stage of your treatment and monitor your progress.

Once your teeth are moved to their final positions by the braces, the braces will be removed. Maintaining your new smile is important and to assist in doing so, retainers will be provided.
